General FAQ

Are you associated with Elcelyx?

  • No, we are MetforminDR and are totally independent of Elcelyx, which is a totally separate company. We have no relationship whatsoever with Elcelyx, and haven't licensed the name, technology or patents.
  • Our goal is to simply publicize their patented concept so patients can benefit before it is FDA approved. We believe that the work we are doing will only help Elcelyx complete their mission of bringing this revolutionary "new drug" to market, and they will be at least, cheering us on.

Elcelyx is going to produce this new drug formulation. Are you selling a new drug?

  • NO!! Our goal is merely to publicize this powerful, but simple concept of delivering metformin in a new way. We are promoting the simple concept that you can easily buy capsules that can deliver metformin, (or any drug), that releases and acts mostly after it passes through the stomach. We are also making it easy for any patient to "do-it-yourself" and pack your own capsules with the identical metformin that they buy from their local pharmacy.

Why are you using the name "Metformin DR", isn't that the name of Elcelyx's drug?

  • Metformin is the generic name for the Anti-diabetic medication and the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) defines delayed-release (DR) as a special type of tablet that is enteric-coated.

Elcelyx has patents on taking metformin and placing it into an enteric coating and producing a new FDA approved drug. Aren't you violating their patents?

  • We have no plans whatsoever of producing any drug. Until then, Elcelyx must undergo and successfully complete "stage 3 trials", that as of May 2019, are only in the planning stages. We believe that this will cost another $100 million expenditure and take a considerable amount of time to complete. After that, the FDA must still approve the new drug. Once the FDA has approved the new drug, our mission will have been completed. Until then, we will publicize how you can do this yourself and gain the benefits of their research and patents.

Metformin DR really is a different new drug, as per the FDA. Is it safe?

  • ONLY your doctor will know if it is safe. MetforminDR and this website are only to help pass on what we think we know, to the best of our knowledge. You should not rely or our opinion alone. Each individual and situation is different, which is why you are under the care of your physician

The new empty capsules that you are providing. Are they any better than any other capsules I can buy?

  • The only thing we are providing is the assurances from the manufacturer that we are passing on to you. We have chosen capsules that we believe are some of the best we could find that will fit your current metformin prescriptions. If you do by capsules elsewhere or a different brand, do ensure that they are ENTERIC capsules, or they will provide zero benefits. (Also make sure they are safe and from a reputable manufacturer)
